The Spokes Model competition gives our contestants the opportunity to perform a 30 second speech on one of the topics listed below. The goal of the competition is to equip girls with public speaking skills.
Did you know that public speaking is one of America's number one fears?
The Spokes Model Competition allows the contestants the opportunity to conquer this fear! Plus, it is fun to try something different that will benefit you throughout your life.
A contestant may enter up to two entries in this optional competition – meaning two different topics.
How to Prepare:
1.) Pick your topic from the list provided below.
2.) Write out and practice your speech. You can have a copy of your speech on the podium. However, it is much easier if you already have your speech memorized before pageant weekend.
3.) Practice speaking clear and with confidence.
4.) Make eye contact while you are speaking. Look at the judges and the audience.
5.) Know your topic! Make sure you have a passion for what you are speaking about.
6.) Time yourself! There is a 30 second time limit. You don't want to go over the time allowed.
7.) Walk out on stage with a big smile.
8.) Say your speech in front of people, so that you get used to speaking in front of others.
9.) Have FUN!
